International Climate Day

We are celebrating this Wednesday, December 8, 2021, International Climate Day and to participate in this event, we wish to share with you a fantastic Upcycling project of neoprene Hypalon Orca which surely equip your semi-rigid boats.

First of all, what is the upcycling?

The "upcycling" in English or "recycling from above" in French, is a concept that is based on the reuse of objects in order to give them a second life by improving it and/or making them attractive.

To put it simply, it is the art of making beautiful with old.

This term was created in the 90s by an interior architect Reiner Pilz.

We want to honor a craftsman who offers upcycled solutions with the old float in neoprene Hypalon Orca of our semi-rigids but also sailboats, survival rafts ...

This initiative of the name of Sailing Kala is carried by Amalia, a young Belgian national (we also know Belgium well!) Installed in Ténérife for a few years in its old sailboat of the 60s.

It was in 2018 that Amalia bought her first sewing machine. After several attempts, the first hypalon bag from the floats of old semi-rigid was born.

Following this first creation, a whole range of accessories (wallets, bags, bags, kits and even backgammon) followed. Creative initiatives are constantly developing.

All creations are handmade by itself (cleaning, preparation, creation and sale on the web and in partner shops).

Today the small business has a small workshop in order to be able to work more comfortably and thus benefits from a larger storage surface to recover the available fabrics.
